FExtend: A File Manager Extension for the Windows NT Operating System
Version 1.0 12/22/1992
(c)Babarsoft - Written by Mark Gamber
FExtend provides a set of drag-drop utilities used in conjunction with the
Windows NT File Manager. Through FExtend, you can:
Delete files by selecting files from File Manager, dragging them to the
trash can and dropping them.
Look up file information including byte size, version, executable infor-
-mation and more.
Change file attributes, selectable from Archive, Read Only, Hidden and
System.
Change file time and date stamping from 00:00 1/1/1980 to 23:59
12/31/2099.
To begin using FExtend, copy "FEXTENT.DLL", "FXEXE.EXE" and "FEXTEND.HLP"
to your Windows directory, such as "\WINNT". Using Notepad or similiar, open
WINFILE.INI and add these lines:
[AddOns] ( Add this ONLY if it's not there already)
FEXTENT=C:\WINNT\FEXTENT.DLL
The path shown above is an example. If yours differs, enter the correct path
where the files have been copied. FEXTENT.DLL may be anywhere in the system
as long as it is correctly pointed to in the [AddOns] section of WINFILE.INI.
FXEXE.EXE and FEXTEND.HLP *MUST* be in the system path or the utilities
won't work.
Notes:
By using the software, the user agrees to indemnify and hold harmless the
author and software from any damages incurred whether real, imaginary or
conjured. If the user cannot agree to this, the software must be destroyed
immediately. No guarentees are implied. FExtend is not public domain, but may
be freely distributed with no charge from the author.
That out of the way, FExtend for the Windows NT Operating System has been
modelled as closely as possible to it's Windows 3.1 counterpart. Due to the
advanced features available, some differences are bound to occur. If you are
experiencing problems using FExtend, please be as specific as possible when
reporting the trouble. Access levels, file system and so on should be
included. Take nothing for granted and remember, everything's beta right now.
